**Responsibilities**


The Safety and Training position for manufacturing and logistics will be responsible for the training of new and existing personnel in SAFE work practices. This position will also lead the plants Safety initiative to comply with all company policies to maintain a SAFE workplace for our employees.


+ Conduct all new hire safety orientation and equipment training.


+ Assign new hires to experienced employees.

+ Understand the operation of all plant equipment


+ Strong communication skills to lead and direct employees.

+ Must be able to communicate efficiently with management.


+ Self-motivation

+ Lead the following Safety programs:


+ R3 Project improvements

+ BBS ( Behavioral Based Safety)

+ PCM Safety topics and meetings

+ Safety committee meetings

+ Plant Safety Self Audits


+ Encourage safety awareness within the plant.


+ Conduct accident and incident investigations determining probable causes and make recommendations to ensure all SAFE procedures are in place.


+ Through analysis of the situation helping determine if corrective action is necessary.

+ Complete and maintain all paperwork for work related injuries.

+ Communicate with Nursing / Doctors as needed for employee relations.


+ Help design a plants SAFE program that complies with OSHA regulations.


+ Monitor plants Safety programs for equipment and personnel interaction.

+ Report Safety issues to management

+ Identify potential hazards.


+ Maintain and record all Plants required Safety programs and audits:


+ Safety training ( includes all required documents, retraining and programs for personnel)

+ OSHA documents

+ 300 level programs as directed by Mohawk Corporate Safety.

+ Environmental laws as directed by Federal and State agencies.

+ MOC document on equipment's Safe operation for new equipment.


+ Must be organized to maintain all document control retention and legal posting as required by legal guidelines.


+ Ensure personnel have the correct tools and PPE for the required job task.


+ Assess and maintain PPE inventory at Plant.

+ Complete OSHA 10-hour class and CPR certification.

+ Help with Plant Tours and Orientation

+ Help with Human Resource related issues.

+ Maintain and directs the completion of items on of "Business Improvement board.

+ Works with Safety Specialist and Plant Leadership to ensure compliance to all safety regulations.

+ Performs any other duties as assigned.


**Qualifications**


High school diploma or equivalent GED.


Minimum of 3-5 years working in Safety/Environmental field for a manufacturing industry.


+ Proficient using all facility equipment and machinery

+ Knowledge of all OSHA requirements

+ Knowledge of Insurance requirements to be compliant.

+ Knowledge of Mohawk's vision, mission organizational and functional operating structure, products, administrative procedures and policies.


+ Proficient using a PC and other department specific databases and/or systems

+ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively interact with Management as well as vendors.

+ Ability to achieve results through team efforts.

+ Organizational ability to redirect skills to support new technologies while maintaining current commitments and ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and/or crisis situation and render good decisions to resolve problems, maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct.

+ Consistently proven ability to manage/implement Safety projects.
