Pricing Manager
**Summary**
This position is responsible for providing leadership and support to the Sales and Marketing group through analysis, computation, and approval of pricing rates for USX customers and potential customers. This position is responsible for the review, approval, and submission of rates for lanes in which USX operates through spot rates and account rate calculations.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
* Provide leadership to members of the Pricing Department, including Pricing Analysts, by reviewing, approving, and guiding the calculation of rates for new and existing customers.
* Works with Sales and other functions daily to manage and account base or territory.
* Calculate and communicate rates and related information to customers. Negotiate and readjust rates if necessary, based on company needs and customer requests. Lock in and/or readjust rates with customers.
* Provide pricing guidance to other managers across the company in various SBUs. Must have strong aptitude in solo, team, local, rail, international, brokerage, and dedicated pricing.
* Manage pricing matrices by SBU.
* Assist in the calculation of approved rates for the company.
* Manage response to bids, pricing requests, and customer RFPs in a timely fashion, including inputting data in customer reports and customer-specified formats.
* Communicate rates and related information to management (including executives).
* Calculate rates for freight based on available data using resources such as Microsoft Dynamic CRM, MS Excel, online pricing tools, and approved/historical rates taking into account various factors such as company costs, customer profile, and other logistical and operational considerations.
* Work with area Vice Presidents and SBU Managers to identify lanes that should be pursued USX.
* Manages the pricing process through maintaining accurate records and updates in CRM.
* Analyzes current business to ensure adequate yield.
* Ability to prioritize and direct tasks and projects within department.
* Prepare standard and ad hoc reporting to meet customer and manager requests.
**Qualifications**
Education
* Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a BS/BA degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Math, or Transportation.
Experience
* Mandatory minimum of 3 years in Pricing along with Rating and Contracts.
* Mandatory minimum of 2 years' experience in Sales.
* Mandatory Minimum of 2 years' experience in truckload operations.
Skills/Certifications
* Extensive knowledge of "market rates" needed to move freight from point to point.
* Extensive understanding of elements that drive "market rates".
* Extensive technical experience with the following essential applications:
* Microsoft Office with a heavy focus on MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, and SQL.
* Transportation analytical programs and interactive maps (Rand McNally, PC Miler)
* Database management programs
* IBM/AS400
* CRM Experience
* Yield Management Tools
* Capacity to learn new applications
* Strong interpersonal skills are required as well as analytical skills and there is a great deal of communication with other job functions and customers.
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment; ability to take on numerous projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
* Must be able to work with executive staff to develop pricing/costing solutions on key accounts.

**Work Environment:**this job operates in a normal professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines, and filing cabinets. Travel may be required.
**Physical Requirements:** while performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel; and reaches with hands and arms.
This is a salary exempt position with a paygrade of ES14.
